On average, one bag lasts about a month for one cat, with many households getting up to 40 days of use. Actual usage can vary depending on your cat’s habits, the size of your litter box, how deep you fill it, and how often it’s used. Some cats are light users, some are… not. We plan for both.

Most self-cleaning litter boxes are designed for fine, clay-style litters and haven’t quite caught up to natural, pellet-based litters like tofu. Because of that, this litter may not work reliably in many automatic systems. If you're open to manual scooping, we'd recommend our Cove Litter Box, which has a built-in wide-slatted scoop and anti-stick plastic and works well with Really Great Cat Litter.

OdorStop has been third-party tested and shown to pass through household plumbing with little to no residue. That said, because it contains bentonite—which doesn’t break down as readily as plant-based fibers—we don’t recommend flushing OdorStop. If you're looking for a flushable litter, our pure tofu litter options are completely flushable.

Clay gets a dusty reputation because many traditional litters use raw bentonite with jagged edges that easily break down into powder. OdorStop uses just 25% bentonite, formed into compact, rounded granules that are much less likely to crumble during shipping, pouring, or scooping. Those granules are also sifted to remove fine dust before being blended with our low-dust plant-fiber pellets—so you get the odor-control and clumping power of clay without the dust cloud. In other words, the best of both worlds.

When unopened, Really Great Cat Litter is best used within 24 months of its production date (printed on the bag). Once opened, we recommend using the litter within 3-6 months to reduce exposure to humidity and ensure peak performance. If you plan to use it beyond that window, reseal the bag tightly and store it in a cool, dark, dry place.

OdorStop is a mixed tofu litter, while our Charcoal and Lavender formulas are pure tofu litters. It’s our most powerful option for odor control, making it a great choice for multi-cat households, while still being low-tracking, 99% dust-free, and lightweight. Unlike Charcoal and Lavender, OdorStop is not flushable.
