There are two options for putting your cat in the carrier: Loading from either of the zippered doors on the sides or loading from the top. Some cats may take to one method better so it's good to try both! All zippers have an auto-locking feature so your cat can't paw the zipper open from the inside.

Accidents happen! We made sure to use materials that were super easy to clean. If a mess does arise, use paper towels or a clean cloth to remove any solid waste or excess liquid. Blot the affected area with a clean dry cloth to absorb as much of the remaining liquid as possible. Then, use a gentle, unscented laundry soap to spot-clean the mess. Allow it to dry, then reassess. If a stain remains, try a household fabric stain remover product, making sure to follow the manufacturers' instructions for spot treatment/upholstery. If there's urine involved, look for an enzyme cleaner formulated for pet urine; you can find this at most pet stores. The bed can be machine washed on a gentle, cold setting and air-dried. Small scuffs or stains can be spot treated with a stain remover pen.

It's about 19 x 10 x 6" when collapsed and folded. When storing for longer periods of time, we suggest folding it and placing it in the bag provided.

Through our research, we found that a carrier's mesh door panel is the area that's most likely to get scratched. So, we went ahead and found a super sturdy mesh that excelled in our specially developed scratch test. We use this test for all of our scratching materials to ensure that they can withstand even the toughest scratches! The walls and base of the carrier are also very durable, but they may show signs of wear over time if your cat's a persistent scratcher.

The zippers on the Porto are auto-locking, which means that there's a little mechanism inside the zipper head that requires the puller, (the dangly bit) to be pulled to engage and release the lock. So even if you've left the carrier open slightly, your cat won't be able to open it any further from the inside. No great escapes!

Porto can be secured to a car seat by feeding a seat belt through the carrier's seat belt straps to ensure it doesn't slide around during regular driving. However, please be aware that this doesn't guarantee safety in the event of a crash. Drive safely! Precious cargo on board.
