Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium was founded in 2012 by Lauren Pears after raising nearly $200,000 on Indiegogo. Lauren is a 35 year old Australian living in London who became uncomfortable with the feeling that she was approaching her career peek as a video game developer for Sony.
After a terrible day at work, a neighbourhood cat hopped on Lauren's lap and she started reminiscing about the cat cafe concept she had come across in Japan.
About the cafe:
The entire cafe is Wonderland themed - there is a forest area, hedge maze area, and mat hatter area among others. Besides making cofee and teas, the staff at the emporium sculpt, paint and help build the displays. Lady Dinah's was the first cat cafe to offer Cat Yoga which is now popular around the world.
The cats have access to every type of toy, bed, strains of cat nip, puzzle feeders, shelves, trees, scratchers and rope bridges. It is not uncommon for guests to sit on the floor and meow at the cats.
Once you arrive at the cafe, you'll be seated at your own table with drinks and you can explore as you please.
How to visit:
Bookings are highly recommended via our website, although they do have some walk-in space but it is rare on weekends which are usually booked a month in advance. They are open Friday - Monday 10am-6pm, Tuesday and Thursday 11am-6pm and Wednesday 6:30pm-8:30pm for evening events.
How you can help:
If you are visiting London you can visit them and the cats! But if you can't make it over the pond, having a look at their merchandise would be great.
