  • How long does one bag last?

On average, one bag lasts about a month for one cat, with many households getting up to 40 days of use. Actual usage can vary depending on your cat’s habits, the size of your litter box, how deep you fill it, and how often it’s used. Some cats are light users, some are… not. We plan for both.

  • What are the ingredients?
    • Really Great Cat Litter, Charcoal: Soybean Fiber, Calcium Carbonate, Corn Starch, Pea Fiber, Activated Carbon.
    • Really Great Cat Litter, Lavender: Soybean Fiber, Calcium Carbonate, Corn Starch, Pea Fiber, Dried Lavender.
  • If it clumps, then how is it also flushable?

A small amount of liquid will cause it to harden slightly, but submerged in water it completely breaks down.

  • Is it septic safe?

We have lots of septic customers, it works fine so long as you flush in small amounts at a time, it completely breaks down in water.

  • My plumber said never to flush anything.

It disintegrates completely in water so it's fine unlike other "flushable" products that are just marketed like that.

  • I thought you weren't supposed to flush cat waste because of Toxoplasmosis?

Toxoplasmosis is incredibly rare for indoor cats as it's obtained by eating infected rodents or birds: https://www.tuftandpaw.com/blogs/cat-guides/toxoplasmosis-in-cats-everything-you-need-to-know But still a good idea for folks to check with their local municipalities to confirm restrictions.

  • Does this work with self-cleaning litter boxes?

Most self-cleaning litter boxes are designed for fine, clay-style litters and haven’t quite caught up to natural, pellet-based litters like tofu. Because of that, this litter may not work reliably in many automatic systems. If you're open to manual scooping, we'd recommend our Cove Litter Box, which has a built-in wide-slatted scoop and anti-stick plastic and works well with Really Great Cat Litter.

  • Does Really Great Cat Litter expire?

When unopened, Really Great Cat Litter is best used within 24 months of its production date (printed on the bag). Once opened, we recommend using the litter within 3-6 months to reduce exposure to humidity and ensure peak performance. If you plan to use it beyond that window, reseal the bag tightly and store it in a cool, dark, dry place.

  • What's the difference between the Charcoal and Lavendar formulas?

Both of our formulas offer the same great benefits, with the main difference being scent. Really Great Cat Litter, Charcoal is unscented, and absorbs odor naturally with activated carbon. Really Great Cat Litter, Lavender is lightly scented with real dried lavender petals.

  • What makes the lavender formula different from other scented litters?

Unlike most scented litters that use synthetic fragrances or concentrated essential oils, our lavender formula is scented with real dried lavender petals. This provides a natural, gentle scent that respects your cat's sensitive sense of smell while still helping with odor control. We designed it specifically to be mild and pleasant, not overwhelming.

  • Isn't scented litter bad for cats?

Many scented litters use synthetic fragrances or concentrated essential oils that can be too strong for cats' sensitive noses. Our lavender formula is different—we use only crushed dried lavender petals for a very gentle, natural aroma that prioritizes your cat's comfort and safety while still providing effective odor management. In fact, lavender in appropriate forms is used by veterinary professionals for calming hospitalized cats and providing enrichment in shelter environments

  • Is lavender safe for cats? I've heard it can be toxic.

Lavender toxicity concerns stem from a few scientific studies looking at direct skin contact with concentrated essential oils, which is completely different from our litter. We use dried lavender petals, not essential oils, and only at a tiny 1% concentration—all bound inside dust-free pellets. A cat would have to eat thousands of pounds to reach any concerning level!

  • Can I mix the lavender and charcoal litters together?

Certainly! The formulas are essentially the same except for the charcoal vs. lavender components, so they offer the same benefits. That said, mixing the two will mean you'll smell less of the lavender aroma.

    Love it

    My dog loves it

He got a mouth full of it ACCIDENTALLY and it went right thru without any issues. I was glad to read the ingredients were natural & not clay.

Best Litter I've Found for my Senior Cats

I have two 14 year-old cats, both X-large, and one who has great difficulty getting in and out of the litter box. She has arthritis in her hips, and tends to drag her back legs when she walks. I have tried several different kinds of litter to find one that won't get dragged everywhere when she exits her box. Really Great Cat Litter is the only one I've found that doesn't leave the litter box when she does.

    Problem olved

Every day the cat litter was terrible. All over my floors, I have 2 litter boxes. I have one main coon cat and one Himalayan and one tuxedo. so it was hard to keep up. The only problem I see is that the letter sticks to the bottom of the letter box, and I have a square scoop and a round litter box. So it takes a bit of scratching.

Claudette, thanks so much for the feedback! We're glad to hear that our litter has helped solve the problem you were dealing with. We know managing litter for multiple cats can be a real challenge, and we appreciate you giving us a try with your main coon, Himalayan, and tuxedo. We hear you about the litter sticking to the bottom of the box, especially with the combination of a square scoop and round litter box. We recommend a deeper layer of litter, and allowing a few moments for the clumps to set.

That's really helpful to know about your experience. Thanks for being part of our community and for sharing these details with us! Most importantly for sharing these pics with us!

    Iffy

They recommended mixing the new litter with some old litter but it's just turning it into a big litter stew. It's super hard to sift and then I can't flush it if it's mixed so end up having really heavy bags to throw out. Cat hasn't pooped in 2 days. Hoping things like that but recommend cutting the pieces in half and turning them white.
