I wanted to switch to a more sustainable cat litter after adding too much of the clay type to landfills, so I looked into quite a few and decided on this one. I'm so glad I did and have been using it about 6 weeks now! It's aesthetically pleasing to me, the clumping ability is quite satisfactory and I haven't noticed an issue with smell (the only one is that as you're scooping out the clumps the urine smell is different/stronger, but overall we haven't noticed much difference than the Tidy Cats low-tracking litter we used to use). Tracking was one of the most important issues to us, and this has done well. It of course still tracks, especially with our big cat's hairy paws - but not as far and definitely not as much. I've included a picture around the litter boxes to demonstrate. And the little rods are less annoying than the little granules in my opinion. The walls of the cubby litter box from Tuft and Paw help as well.
We did follow the transition recommendations from Tuft and Paw (thank you!) and it worked well. We didn't have any trouble with our cats accepting it. You DEFINITELY need the litter scoop from Tuft and Paw to handle this litter though, unless you want to spend a very long time scooping. The bigger openings make it much easier to scoop, but they do allow smaller pieces to slip through - so if that bothers you, you may not want this litter. I honestly don't mind picking them up myself every once in a while to clean out the box better.
I haven't tried to…
